International Surface Air Lift ISAL is a wholesale USPS commercial service for volume mailings of all First-Class Mail international postcards, letters, and large envelopes (flats), and for volume mailings of small packets.
ISAL shipments fly to the foreign destinations and enter into that country’s surface non-priority mail system. As a result, delivery speed is 7-14 day worldwide as US Standard Mail. Also, as a USPS service, mail retains American identity, undeliverable items are returned free of charge, and they do not get stamped with other countries postmarks.
Discounted Price Categories
ISAL’s discounted price categories are based on 19 worldwide country price groups and applicable mail shapes [letters and postcards, large envelopes (flats), and packages (small packets and rolls)]. These categories correspond to the Universal Postal Convention requirements to use shape-based pricing. Consequently, an exact USPS International rate price quote requires a breakdown of quantities by country including the size and weight of the mail pieces. For that reason, we provide all customers with a complimentary consultation and price quote.
The maximum weights for individual ISAL (International Surface Air Lift) items are as follows:
a. Card or Letter-size item: 3.5 ounces.
b. Large, Flat-size item: 17.6 ounces.
